Relive Fiorentina's second-half comeback, and Giuseppe Rossi's stunning hat trick, against the defending Serie A champions.

JUVENTUS HAD JUST WON back-to-back Serie A titles, setting the standard for all of their rivals at the start of their near decade of dominance in the Italian top flight. They hadn't lost a game through the first few matches of the season and looked to extend their unbeaten run in Florence, where they had gone the previous 15 years without defeat, a stretch dating back to Gabriel Batistuta's heyday as Fiorentina's top scorer.

Juventus broke for halftime with a cushy 2-0 lead, but it all fell apart in the second half when Giuseppe Rossi's 14-minute hat trick powered a sensational comeback that also sent him to the top of the scoring chart.

"For our fans, it's as if we won a trophy today," Fiorentina captain Manuel Pasqual said.

For Rossi, the hat trick was a huge release after a hellish few years. After his father died in 2010, the Italian striker required a pair of knee surgeries that sidelined him for months on end.

The lineups

What the pregame formations looked like.

Vincenzo Montella's Fiorentina side lines up in a Christmas tree formation, with Juan Cuadrado and Borja Valero flanking Rossi up front. Mario Gomez, Fiorentina's summer signing from Bayern Munich, is unavailable. Massimo Ambrosini is in his only season with Fiorentina before retiring and starts beside veteran Claudio Pizarro. Stefan Savic and Gonzalo Rodriguez are Fiorentina's rough-and-tumble center-backs.

Antonio Conte's Juventus stick to their usual 3-5-2, with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, and Giorgio Chiellini forming the famous "BBC" back line and Paul Pogba sharing midfield duties with Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio. The likes of Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco are on Juventus' bench.
